Voting Abroad
Voting from abroad is very cumbersome. The voting procedure for Dutch citizens abroad requires active registration well before the elections.
Stemmen vanuit het Buitenland
Nederlanders in het buitenland kunnen al geruime tijd deelnemen aan de verkieizngen voor de Tweede Kamer en het Europees Parlement. Dankzij de inspanningen van de SNBN geldt dit sinds 2023 ook voor de Eerste Kamerverkiezingen. Ongeacht om welke verkiezingen het gaat, stemmen vanuit het buitenland is alleen nog altijd zeer omslachtig.
De stemprocedure voor Nederlanders in het buitenland vereist al ver voordat er verkiezingen zijn actieve registratie. Het stemmen zelf moet ook gebeuren voordat de echte verkiezingscampagne losbarst – tenzij je gebruik maakt van een volmacht.
Het grootste gedeelte van dit stemproces gebeurt nog met reguliere post met als gevolg dat stembiljetten in de praktijk vaak niet of te laat aankomen (bij de stemmer of in Den Haag).
Het is tijd voor een zo ‘volledig mogelijke’ digitalisering van het stemproces. De SNBN blijft zich hiervoor hard maken.
In aanloop naar de eerstvolgende verkiezingen zullen wij hier uitgebreid op ingaan.

Webinar voting for the Senate
