SNBN Privacy and Cookie Policy
Stichting Nederlanders Buiten Nederland
Secretariat: Slotlaan 24, 3523 HC Utrecht
www.snbn.nl – info@snbn.nl
This privacy and cookie policy describes how the Stichting Nederlanders buiten Nederland (SNBN) handles the personal data it collects from its donors and other contacts through this website and other channels.
Legal Basis
SNBN is a foundation that operates worldwide. Its board members do not normally reside in the Netherlands. However, SNBN is a foundation under Dutch law and registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce. Therefore, the basis for this policy is the European Union's privacy legislation (General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)), which is enshrined in the Dutch General Data Protection Regulation (AVG).
Cookies
SNBN's websites use cookies. A cookie is a small file that can be sent along with a website visit and stored on your computer. If you visit the same website again later, that cookie may be used. We use the following types of cookies:
Analytical cookies
Analytical cookies provide us with insight into how our website is used by our visitors. Your privacy is guaranteed. We can use the data to optimize our website and make it as user-friendly as possible.
If you indicated that you do not accept cookies when visiting our website, you will see the same information on the website as someone who does accept cookies.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to track how visitors use our website. To do this, the American company Google places a cookie through our website. Google collects this information anonymously and hides your IP address. We ensure a secure connection between Google and our website (SSL).
We have not given Google permission to use the data collected this way for other Google services, but Google may be legally required to provide this information anyway. SNBN has no control over this.
Privacy Policy
Personal data may be collected through our websites, subject to the provisions of the GDPR. We handle this data with care. The GDPR requires us to:
-
Not collect more personal data than is legitimately necessary
-
Ask consent for the use and processing of your personal data where legally required
-
Appropriately secure your personal data on our website and in our other databases
-
Give you the right to access the personal data we store about you
-
Give you the right to correct this data if it is inaccurate or to have it deleted if you so desire and there is no longer a legal obligation to retain the data
-
State the purposes for which we use and process personal data. We do this with this privacy and cookie policy.
Personal Data
When using our website, you leave information, including personal data. We store and use this data solely for the purposes described in this privacy and cookie policy. We store and use only data provided directly by website users and data clearly intended for processing when provided.
Personal data is collected in the following locations on our website:
General use of the website.
If you accept cookies, cookies are used in accordance with the cookie policy described above.
Newsletter.
You can subscribe to our newsletter through our website. We ask for your first and last name, email address, and date of birth. We do this because we use this information to send you the newsletter and to correctly process any unsubscribes. Because people sometimes unsubscribe from the newsletter using an email address other than the one they receive it from, we also ask for your name and date of birth in addition to your email address. This makes it easier to process unsubscribes or changes to your email address.
We send our newsletter via the email service provider (ESP) Mailchimp. We are bound by the methods and terms used by Mailchimp.
When you register for the newsletter, a cookie is placed.
Contact form.
You can contact SNBN, ask a question, or provide feedback via the contact form. When using the contact form, we ask for your name, email address, and, of course, the comment you wish to leave. This information is sent to SNBN as an email. SNBN uses this data:
-
To process your comment, answer your question, fulfill your request, or take note of your message.
-
To compile an overview of the number and types of questions we receive. We do not use your name or email address for this purpose. However, we may use the name of the provider that sent your email (the part after the @), if, for example, they tell us the country from which the comment originated.
When you send the contact form, a cookie is placed.
Donations.
You can make a donation to SNBN via our website. You must provide at least your email address, name, and the amount of your donation. You can also leave your company name, address, and a message. We use Mollie as our payment service provider. Mollie uses the information you provide to process the payment. Mollie's privacy policy applies. Mollie is responsible for processing the data.
We receive a message from Mollie about your donation, either by email and/or via our bank accounts. We use this message to send you a thank-you message – if we have the data required to contact you.
When you send a donation message via Mollie, a cookie is placed.
Disclosure of data to third parties
We will only disclose the data you provide to us to third parties if and to the extent legally required or if and to the extent you have given explicit consent.
Security
We protect our data to prevent unauthorized access by third parties. We do this by, among other things:
-
Access control to the administrative and email functions of our website. We use passwords for this purpose.
-
We secure network connections via Secure Socket Layer (SSL).
-
We restrict access to parts of our website and email functions to those who require this access due to their role within SNBN or the assignment they are carrying out on behalf of SNBN.
-
We regularly review the assigned authorizations and remove them if the authorizations are no longer necessary for the person's role within SNBN or the assignment they are carrying out or have carried out on behalf of SNBN.
Third Parties
Our websites are linked to the websites of other individuals and organizations. Our privacy and cookie policy does not apply to the websites of these other individuals and organizations. They have their own policies, which may also be based on other laws.
Retention periods
We retain personal data provided to us for as long as the individual maintains an active relationship with SNBN (for example: donor, email correspondence, collaboration, or another active relationship). If the active relationship with SNBN no longer exists, we will not retain the personal data longer than necessary or legally required. After all matters arising from the active relationship with SNBN have been settled, we will retain your data for a maximum of seven years. If you request that your data be deleted sooner, we will do so provided there are no legal or other obstacles.
Right to access, correct, and object
You have the right to access, correct, and delete your data upon request. To do so, please send an email to info@snbn.nl.

If you have any questions about this privacy and cookie policy, or any other questions about how SNBN handles personal data, you can submit them via the feedbackform on this website.
