Good news: 135,424 Dutch people living outside the Netherlands have now registered to vote for the October 29th parliamentary elections. That's almost 25% more than in 2023 , when there were 109,436.

In concrete terms, this means that Dutch citizens living abroad now hold two seats in the House of Representatives . Never before has our voice been so strong. With every election, we see a rise in registrations – a clear sign of the growing engagement of our supporters worldwide.

Our chairman Eelco Keij says: "The fact that Dutch citizens abroad together hold two seats in the House of Representatives is historic and a new record. In the current fragmented political landscape, even a single seat can be decisive for a particular government direction. We will continue to encourage everyone to actually vote, and we hope that the international postal service will prove reliable."

The registration deadline for temporary voters (such as military personnel and students) runs until October 1st. The number could therefore rise even further. The SNBN (Dutch National Voter Registration Service) will soon launch a special election campaign.

Practical information about the elections of October 29

Registration is no longer possible. It is also no longer possible to apply for a proxy or voter pass.

If you're registered but haven't yet received a postal voter's certificate, consider requesting a replacement. This will arrive by email and is therefore usually faster than the original, which will arrive by mail. You can request a replacement postal voter card from the municipality of The Hague until October 17th .

Ballots for postal voters will be mailed starting September 30th. As soon as the ballot is available, SNBN will also post a link to it on its website.

Our election FAQ answers (almost) all questions about the upcoming elections.
